Diagnostic and Debug Files These files can be used to isolate problems with running WinDisp other software. In most cases you can simply run the program from this page and you will get a simple form displayed which you can then dismiss. If the program fails with an error, this indicates that the component being utilised by the program is not correctly installed on your system. Common Problems There are a variety of MS system files which can cause problems when the version installed on your computer is not consistent with that used when building the application you are running. The most common of these are:
Microsoft Scripting runtime Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) JET Database engine
If you receive a message Error 5: Invalid procedure call or argument, then one possibility is that the Scripting runtime needs to be updated. If you receive a message "Cannot load vb5db.dll", then you may not have the JET database engine installed on your computer. If you have trouble creating or updating databases, then you may need to upgrade to the latest MDAC. The most common missing system components are included below:
These versions are current as of January 14, 2005, but the latest downloads can be obtained from Microsoft's download page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/downloads/ The MDAC and JET downloads can be found by following the Product and Update Downloads link, while the Scripting Runtime can be found by selecting Windows Script in the Product/Technology drop-down and the clicking on Go! Then select the link appropriate for your operating system and follow the download and install instructions. (You may need to search for "scripting" as Microsoft continually update their site and move the links). If you receive an error message Error 429: ActiveX component cannot create object, then you may not have the DAO dll file dao350.dll installed on your computer. First uninstall the program which causes the problem and then go to the page: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;292054 and try ONLY the first 3 steps of method 1. Then reinstall the program and see if the problem has been solved.
